1960 photo of Kumsansa or Gold Mountain Temple located at the Geumsansa complex, where a big celebration is held every year on Buddah's birthday. Geumsansa is a temple complex of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It stands on the slopes of Moaksan (Moak Mountain) in Gimje City, 15 kilometers south of Jeonju City, in the Jeollabuk-do province of southwestern South Korea. The temple complex was first constructed in 599. Geumsansa is now part of Moaksan Provincial Park. The small multi-terraced stone pagoda in the center foreground still exists ca 2007 and stands in front of Mireukjeon temple.
